Good value holiday destination
Poland is the ideal good value holiday destination. Self-catering accommodation is very reasonably priced, eating out is inexpensive, beer is very cheap, public transport is dirt cheap, skiing and ski hire much cheaper than most destinations, and participation in tourist activities is inexpensive compared to prices in the UK or USA.
The differential between basic and luxury is much lower in Poland, so that most people can indulge a little without it breaking the bank. Things will not stay the same for ever, so do consider visiting this lovely unspoilt country in the near future, before the Euro arrives and prices rise.
Your money will stretch a long way in Poland and enable you to have an excellent holiday at a much lower cost than back home in Britain, Ireland or America.
Things to do in southern Poland:
- Ski and snow board in the winter - loads of ski slopes. Do the tourist thing and take a horse-drawn sleigh ride. See skiing holiday Poland.
- Historic and cultural tours of Auschwitz and the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz in Cracow, Wawel Castle of Polish Kings and the Cathedral, amazing churches including Polish wooden architecture.
- Visit the birthplace and towns that Pope John Paul visited, and walk in his footsteps.
- Go walking in the Tatra Mountains and national parks. The hills (see Maciejowa) around Rabka are especially pretty; excellent for walkers who wish to go on a different walk each day. Great views to enjoy and capture with your camera. Make new friends with the other walkers who come to this area specifically to walk.
- Take a holiday on the wild side with superb outdoor activities such as cycling in Szczawnica (with bike hire), horse riding, canoeing, rambling, orienteering.
- Take part in white water rafting on the Dunajec river for an exhilarating holiday experience and more fantastic views.
- Lots of things to do in between sightseeing, such as aquaparks, markets for Polish souvenirs, eating out, enjoying Polish folklore and song in the restaurants, theatres and bars.
