Now part of the EU, Poland is still a mystery for many in the Uk and beyond.
Indeed, why would you want to visit?
It's a country where your money goes a long way. If you enjoy eating out on holiday, meals in restaurants are affordable every night. In fact, we only cook breakfast and eat out the rest of the time. The difference in price between simple and gourmet is not vast either so that something special becomes very affordable.
Some people come to Krakow, or Cracow as it's know to the English, for gourmet weekend breaks.
If you frequent beauty salons, enjoy the occasional massage or manicure then again, Poland represents exceptional value.
But, Poland has much more to offer than just being inexpensive.
It's a land of forests, rivers and mountains and lakes. We concentrate on the scenic south of Poland because that's where we have a holiday home and indeed where the Poles themselves take their holidays.
The south of Poland has a strong folk culture, wooden houses and churches with carvings are a strong feature.

Visit Krakow on the Vistula (Wisla) River for a medieval castle, Krok the fire breathing dragon and the history of Poland.

Winter brings snow. Poland has numerous ski slopes in the south, the main ski resort is Zakopane which is quite 'touristy' but there are many others in neighbouring towns.
All the usual facilities are available including tows, ski hire and tuition, again at family friendly prices. Take your children to learn to ski in Poland before you tackle more expensive challenging slopes elsewhere.
