The house is located in a quiet street - you don't hear traffic, absolutely nothing. It has a walled garden and is very private and secure. It's a great house for a family self-catering holiday. Poland is a safe destination and Poles like children - very family oriented.

Take the family for a white water rafting trip in the Dunajec river for some memorable excitement, or for a cable car trip in the Tatra national park.

The holiday house to rent is located in Rabka-Zdroj, a spa town with ski slopes and ice rink during the winter, about 15 minutes drive from Nowy Targ.

Nowy Targ

Nowy Targ isn't touristy in the sense that Zakopane and Rabka are. It's the main big town where people shop.

You won't find any special tourist attractions or overpriced goods and cafes.

There are however, a few attractive churches and the opportunity to see how Poles live.

A point to mention about chicken in Poland is that it has a superb taste unlike the bland offerings we have in the UK. Perhaps this is because poultry is reared naturally and is allowed a longer lifespan. .

The flower market, a small market held in a street close to the town square sells a good variety of quality plants. When we visited in early May it was mainly basket and bedding plants, herbs, vegetables and a few trees and shrubs.

Prices are less than half the price of similar plants in the UK.

Stallholders were happy to advise about specific conditions that each plant required.
One excellent buy are the plastic baskets used for planting and lifting bulbs; they're a fraction of the cost in the uk.

One of the advantages of driving over for a sef-catering holiday is that it's easier to take home any bargains or Polish goodies that you buy. Plan your holiday in advance and make the most of seasonal goods like plants for the garden in early May, or Christmas decorations in early December.
