 Our 5 bedroom ski chalet is located on the edge of Rabka Zdroj, a small spa town half an hour's drive from Zakopane (pic on left showing the back of the ski chalet).
The chalet is backed by a field - perfect for sledging. Several sledges in the house for children and families to use for winter fun. Zakopane is the big ski resort in southern Poland, although Rabka itself also has ski slopes which are perfect for families with beginners. There are ski tows, ski lessons (both private and group), and ski hire. Ski hire costs around 12 zlotys per hour for boots, skis and bindings, or about 35 zlotys for whole day. Private ski lessons are around 60 zloty per hour or less if part of a group. English speakers are available. The slopes are a couple of km away from the house so you would either have to use your own car or a taxi. Taxis are relatively cheap in Poland. Photo Gallery of Rabka Zdroj - there's an ice skating rink in Rabka itself for a spot of ice skating. Skates can be hired, there's also a restaurant for refreshments. 
More information about the ski slopes in Rabka Zdroj: Almost every other village in this part of southern Poland has a ski slope or two.
